July 13th, 2011 GREAT NEWS!

So I have been asked a bunch what exactly a spina cord stimulator is so here is an update and explanation of what a spinal cord stimulator is and what it will do for Trav.
A Spinal cord stimulation uses low voltage stimulation of the spinal nerves to block the feeling of pain. It helps you to better manage your pain and potentially decrease the amount of pain medication. It may be an option if you have long-term (chronic) leg or arm pain, and have not found relief through traditional methods. A small battery-powered generator implanted in the body transmits an electrical current to your spinal cord. The result is a tingling sensation instead of pain. By interrupting pain signals, the procedure has shown success in returning some people to a more active. We are hopng for Trav this will be a good fit for him and his condition and on July 13th after appealing to the insurance 3 times they have approved 100% for the procedue. We have an appointment Aug. 9th to put in the temporary device and if it works we will schedule the the procedure to have the device put in for good.
